Spring Clean: Buying Guide

Warmer days are incoming… first sporadically, then BOOM — endless sunny days of mid-20s are the norm. It doesn’t take too many of these warmer days for our brains to make the switch over from wellies and woollens to silks and sun hats. In fact, hotter climates like Brissy + Perth have already packed away their jackets for the year (here in Melbourne we’re still defrosting, but not for long!).

The itch to spring clean is palpable. If you have pulled out lighter pieces from last spring and decide they don’t have a place in your 2025 wardrobe, we’re here to help with our Spring buying guide:

  • Tips and tricks

  • What to expect in-store + online

  • How to go about turning your clothes into cash or store credit.

Save on the washing powder and let some items, especially knits, air dry in the sun to freshen up.

What kinda pieces?

Spring poses a tricky dressing environment - increasingly long, sunny days - but still chilly at night. The weather can change in an instant (at least here in Melbourne), and that light cotton dress that suited the morning sun is suddenly making your knees knock in an afternoon breeze.

Here’s what our shoppers are after for the months ahead.

Pieces for layering

Versatility for the in-between season.
  • Lightweight knitwear: cardigans, cotton weaves, superfine merino
  • Vests
  • Long sleeves: cotton, skivvy style, bamboo.
  • Athleisure: tracksuit jackets, rain jackets, windbreakers.
  • Dresses: long sleeve, midi, maxi.

Flowy Fabrics

Fabrics to breathe in.

Accessories

Less boots, more slip-ons.

  • Lighter footwear: Slip ons, ballet flats, mules.
  • Sneakers: Hiking, running, everyday wear.
  • Bags: Big leather totes, special designer pieces, colorful handbags.
  • Headwear: Caps, Headbands, Sunglasses (in great condition!)

Pops of colour

We’re colour pushers all year round, but especially during the warmer months!

Preparation Tips!

Freshen pieces

Ensure your pieces are freshly washed or aired out, ready for their new owner. We love Dirt products for washing items with care, without nasty chemicals.

Do a spot check for any loose hems, marks or pulls. Mending is a great way to increase re-sell value of compromised items. Do it yourself or take it to an alteration shop, We like Chop Shoppe in Northcote!

Present your items like a gift!

Our in-store buyers are selecting all day, every day, and see hundreds of people a week. Presentation matters – if it looks like you love your clothes, we are more likely to as well. To make selling efficient and effective for both parties, bring in your clothes folded nicely in a bag. No hangers, dry cleaning bags, or suitcases!

Bring in a curated selection

Because we are buying clothes directly from you, we’re a little more particular than other resale stores. We have no limit on what to bring in, but a selection of 10-30 pieces is a great start - you can always bring back more once you know what we’re after!
