Winter Staff Picks Round Up

Winter fashion has its own unique charm, but it can be challenging when you want to wear a particular piece or create a specific look that gets disrupted by the need to layer for warmth. While some of us welcome the challenge, others end up wearing a type of ‘uniform’ that can only be characterised by an all-encompassing clothing cocoon.

This winter, we asked four team members to share how the season affects their personal style and how they express themselves in the cooler months. Each team member picked their favourite items from our online store, showcasing their individual style through Mutual Muse pieces. Sign up to our mailing list to hear our staff muse on their favourite spring fits here

Siân

First up we have Siân, our new eComm + Marketing coordinator. You may see glimpses of her in-store, but she is working more behind the scenes to keep our website fresh and exciting for you.

Style of dressing in one word:
Monochromatic

Who or what influences your style:
Anything 90’s minimalism, Japanese silhouettes, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the Olsen twins!

Favourite designers:
Where to start! Yohji Yamamoto, Prada, Jil Sander, Kowtow, Acne...

What are the wardrobe items you wear on repeat?
I generally rotate between two very similar pairs of Alpha60 pants… to the untrained eye they’re the same pants, but I can tell the difference! That and my Camper Pix brogues, comfy and perfect for everyday dressing.

Greatest find at Mutual Muse:
My black Comme Des Garçon wallet, not a rare find but a staple I use and love all day, everyday!

Favourite part of winter dressing:
I love wool, so being able to dress head to toe in it makes me so happy - I’m loving brands like Ice Breaker that are creating high-performance wool activewear.

Kirsta

Next up we have our founder Kirsta! A lifelong secondhand shopper and laundry enthusiast, you know she knows how to have fun with fashion.

Style of dressing in one word:
Playful

Who or what influences your style:
Art, feelings, people on the street, what my body feels comfortable in atm

Favourite designers:
Comme Des Garçon and Moschino

What are the wardrobe items you wear on repeat?
I wear my red Camper lab loafers constantly because I love the colour and they are comfy enough to wear standing on your feet all day.

Greatest find at Mutual Muse:
It's a toss up between a red silk panelled bias cut Akira Isogawa gown (one of my fav vintage designers) or a heavy linen jumpsuit from the 80s.

Favourite part of winter dressing:
Trying to find inventive ways to wear as much colour and stay warm at the same time.
