Summer: Buying Guide

Everything you need to know about selling with us this summer.

Summer is right around the corner so we thought we’d officially do the call out for your best summer items! If you’re keen to do a clean out before Christmas rolls around, read on for our summer buying tips + tricks.

...So, what are we after?

Natural Fibres

We always prioritise natural fibres in our selections. However, during hot weather, we know that our customers gravitate towards these tenfold. Lightweight weaves like linen, cotton, silk, and airy combinations are especially popular.

Brand Guide:

Friends of Frank, Bassike, Kowtow, Deiji Studios, Metta Melbourne, Lee Mathews.

Bright Colours + Prints!

Summer rolls around and (some of us) tend to leave our blacks and greys in winter and opt for more colour in summer. Think artistic prints, bold colours and colour blocking.

Brand Guide:

Obus, Variety Hour, Blanca, Marimekko.

Swimwear

We’d all rather be at the beach, and look good while doing so in our new cossies! The swimwear industry is 99% polyester-based, so we want to promote keeping styles in rotation rather than purchasing new pieces and supporting further production.

Brand Guide:

RAQ Swimwear, Camp Cove, Andie Swim, Bamba Swim.

Shorts n Skirts

Let those legs loose! In summer we generally slow down on jeans, heavy pants and woollen fabrics - and start to buy more lightweight bottoms. Think skirts (mini to maxi), shorts (loose, breathable fabric) and pants (Wide leg and floaty styles!)

Brand Guide:

Assembly Label, Alpha60, Marle, Kloke.

Sandals

Slip-on styles sell best when it’s hot out - leather or rubber, flip-flops or birkies, we want them all! Make sure the wear is minimal and the style is current.

Brand Guide:

Camper, Archies, Radical Yes, Birkenstocks.

Basics

Sometimes it’s so hot you just want to chuck on a tank or a T-shirt and walk out the door, simple! We favour pieces made with organic cotton and lightweight fabrics like rayon + hemp.

Brand Guide:

Henne, Arnsdorf, Dissh, COS.

Accessories

What better way to complete your summer outfit than with a summer-coded accessory? Think sunglasses, bags, hats, jewellery and wallets.

Brand Guide:

Szade, Millie Savage, Baggu, Coach.

Preparation Tips!

Clean + Check over

Make sure your items are freshly laundered and checked over for marks, holes and pulls before you bring them in for sale.

How to present

Our in-store buyers are selecting all day, every day, and see hundreds of people a week. Presentation matters – if it looks like you love your clothes, we are more likely to as well. To make selling efficient and effective for both parties, bring in your clothes folded nicely in a bag. No hangers, dry cleaning bags, or suitcases!

Bring in a curated selection

Because we are buying clothes directly from you, we’re a little more particular than other resale stores. We have no limit on what to bring in, but a selection of 10-30 pieces is a great start - you can always bring back more once you know what we’re after!
